THE AUTHOR

Hi! My name is Nienke, and I'm a 17 years old girl from the Netherlands. If you're not Dutch, you're probably a bit clueless on how to pronounce my name which is fine, because I might not be able to pronounce yours either. Just pronounce it however you want to.
I love photography, reading, writing and history. I listen to Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Kayak, The Beatles, Elliott Smith and many more, but I'd probably bore you with my huge list of great musicians (if not, just contact me and I'll tell you all about my favorite music).
When I'm free and not doing any of the things listed above, I'm probably a) watching BBC's Sherlock or b) watching The Walking Dead (I used to  hate series and still sort of do but I'll make an exception for Sherlock and The Walking Dead) or c) sleeping.
My passion for photography started around 2013, when I bought myself a camera. I took so many photos from that moment on and I never really stopped - and that brings us to today.

THE BLOG

I started blogging when I was about 12 years old - when I didn't have a clue of what it actually was. But I enjoyed it. I'd write about 3 posts a day that no one ever read and take pictures of everything with my 2 megapixel phone camera. I changed my blog name quite often because I was never satisfied with it (perfectionism, I know). About six months ago, I decided I wanted to start all over again. So I deleted my old blog and started this one. I remember people coming up to me, asking me why I deleted my blog, So I told them I wanted to start all over again. 'Well, you could have just changed your blog name and designed a new layout - then you'd still have all your followers!' they told me. Then I realized I didn't care about the amount of followers anymore. I just wanted a whole new start - and that's how nienke came to life.

SIDE NOTE

Keep in mind that it's not the camera who takes the pictures for you, nor is it the editing software who edits for you. You're the one in charge. Photography is more than a camera - it requires human qualities such as creativity to create an original composition or to play around with exposure. You don't need a fancy SLR camera with a millions worth of lenses - use what you have.
