Enchanted

Walking through the forest, looking at the magical game of light and shadow, being surrounded by trees, hearing only the rustling of the leaves and the occasional dog barking, I felt happier than I've felt in days.

This day it was warm, very warm, and so I threw on my most breezy dress while trying to ignore my pale legs. We found ourselves a nice spot in the shadow (none of us can actually stand the heat and so we avoid the sun - hence the pale legs and arms) at the bank of the river. I settled down with a book, Morrissey's Autobiography, and that was the entire day. Not much, perhaps, but I didn't mind in the slightest. I loved sitting there, reading, every now and then looking up to stare at the hills at the other side of the river. It was nice.

When we came home, I went to my room because I wanted to look at the pictures I took that day. Before I knew it, it had turned into a photo session which included jumping around on the bed.

That day, I listened to Nostradamus - The fate of man, an album by Kayak, but I can't find it anywhere on YouTube so I can't post it here, sadly. But an album that describes the day is Alex Turner's Submarine - the calm feeling of the album fits this 22nd of July nicely.

Waking up to rays of sun peeking through the curtains. My mom and I both are dreadful sleepers and so, being wide awake at 7.30 AM, we decided to go for a morning walk. It's those moments I cherish the most - walking on deserted roads with the majority of the people still fast asleep, the sun climbing higher and higher as you walk through the forest, finding beautiful stones while climbing up a steep hill, picking berries to eat along the way. This day, I fell in love with this region and I remember feeling happy and peaceful all day. All the forests and nature surrounding me definitely had their influence on me - positively, needless to say.

That evening, I listened to the album Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. It calmed me down and it made me appreciate all the feelings music can evoke. Without even wishing one certain person to suddenly show up, the song Wish You Were Here stayed with me that night.

20/07/2015 | the arrival

After a four hour drive we arrived at our cabin (for one week, that is) in Germany. We stayed very near the Mosel river and what you see on the first, eighth and thirteenth photo was the view I had from my bedroom. My dad and I walked down the road in front of our house and the view of hills with vineyards, trees rising triumphantly as far as you could look and the river wriggling its way through the landscape made us feel tiny.

We had dinner at an amazing pizzeria that night. I took the water bottle they put on our table as a souvenir (it is quite pretty, you know).

The song above is Unloveable by The Smiths. I will post pictures of the vacation sorted by day and for each day I'll add a song that has been playing in my mind that day or that describes the feeling of the day. In the car I listened to my favourite The Smiths' album, The World Won't Listen, and I (re)discovered my love for this song.
